b4k4 Web-Design & Photography
About & Colophon
Colophon
The site is all hand-coded, written in PHP spitting out choice XHTML to your choice of browser. The photography portfolio runs of a custom-built content management system, which if you have a similar need, I can tailor to fit your needs. (Category management, sorting by camera, auto-resizing etc etc.)
The music & flickr jazz below is a custom caching of the data available from my last.fm account (all served up nicely through the Audioscrobbler web-services) and from a flickr feed (with a bit of jiggery-pokery), respectively.
The graphics and images on the site are bespoke. The graphical effects exploit the mootools Javascript framework.
About Phil
Phil obtained his degree in Artificial Intelligence from the University of Sheffield Department of Computer Science in 2005. Following that he joined the Web Intelligence Technologies group of the department as a research associate, working on the IPAS project, chiefly with partner Rolls-Royce, on large-scale knowledge-management solutions using Intelligent Web approaches.
Throughout his time at university, Phil was involved with various societies, including being on the committees for the Photography Society and the RAG cross-Europe hitch-hike, where amongst other things he produced their respective websites. (Although these are subject to change by the new committees!)
In the summer of 2006 he left the academic life of Sheffield and moved to France into a start-up company, where he currently works as the lead web-developer, heading a small team.
In addition to his professional work, he is also building his photography portfolio, and is particularly interested in the Parisien (and
international) music scene.
(Also see the music portfolio in the photography section of the site.)
When time allows, he also enjoys travelling,
biking, climbing,
and snowboarding.
